Recover Deleted Lost Files
Warning: Becareful when you are transfering / back -up files between your Vista powered PC and your external drive!
Have you ever accidentally delete your files and thought you will never recover them again?
Last week as I was changing my Laptop operating system from Vista back to XP for many reasons… I accidentally deleted all my files. What I did was transfer all my files from laptop to an external drive. After cut and paste my files to external files. I still noticed that the files are still on my laptop for some reason. I thought that I might have “copied and paste” instead of “cut and paste” So I deleted them and emptied my recycle bin! Only to realize that I lost ALL my files in my external drive too!
What went wrong was (as a caution to Vista users) Vista somehow shows the folders of my external drive in “my profile ” in my laptop and vice versa looking as though the folders are in my laptop. There is some kind of linking structure. Hence even after I cut and paste my folders to my external drive, they still shows in my laptop profile. And as I deleted the filesĀ in the folders in my laptop, it actually deleted the files in the folders in my external drive.
Can you imagine how I felt after emptying my recycle bin and checking back on my external drive to see NO files and folders! I was desperate! I lost 100GB of files! ALL of them!
Next thing, I called my IT department for help! How can I recover my deleted files! Are they lost forever? “If I werent too hasty and check on my external drive first before emptying my recycle BIN!” I was swearing to myself!
Anyway, my IT department sent me an undelete software - a free undelete software, those freewares that you can download from the internet. I tried it for 2 whole nights! It didnt work, every single time it searched, it stopped! hanged at 40% search status. I repeated again and again for 5 times, each time taking like 5 hours to to reach 40% search status before it stopped again showing (not enough memory!)
Trust me, I was frustrated, thought there was no coming back of my 100GB of files. Then I tried searching again on the net, several brands came up! Those Undelete Software types, Undelete Files types and even Free Undelete, But I thought to myself, I am not going to go through another 2 nights of trial and error with a free ware to find that the free ware does not work. Maybe there are free undelete software that works but I am not going to take my chances again. My time and sleep is more precious and important ![]()
Then I came across Recover My Files and I read several good reviews about the software that it will Recover Deleted Files . It does cost a bit but hey, time is more important, I thought to myself, if they are charging me then it should work.
